Who Needs an Estonia Tourist Visa?
An Estonia tourist visa is intended for Turkish citizens travelling for holidays, sightseeing or short cultural visits. Holders of ordinary Turkish passports generally need a visa. Turkish special, service and diplomatic passport holders may qualify for short-stay exemptions, but should check the current conditions for their passport category before travelling. This guidance concerns applications submitted from Türkiye.
The short-stay Schengen visa, commonly called a Type C visa, permits visits within the overall limit of 90 days in any 180-day period. Days spent in other Schengen countries count towards that allowance. The validity dates, authorised duration of stay and number of entries printed on the visa must also be respected. A tourist visa does not authorise employment or replace a suitable long-stay permission.
Application Requirements
Estonia should be your only destination or the main destination of your trip. For a sightseeing itinerary covering several Schengen countries, this will generally be the country where you spend the most time. If stays are equal, the country of first entry determines where to apply. Applicants should also check the consular jurisdiction covering their residence in Türkiye.
Your passport must normally remain valid for at least three months after your intended departure from the Schengen area, have been issued within the previous ten years and contain at least two blank pages. You need a completed application form and consistent travel arrangements. Travel medical insurance must cover the entire Schengen area, including emergency treatment and medical repatriation, with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.
You must explain how the trip will be funded and provide evidence supporting your intention to return to Türkiye. Employment, studies, family circumstances, regular income and previous travel may all be relevant. Bank statements should reflect resources proportionate to your itinerary. Large recent deposits may need an explanation. If someone sponsors the trip, document both the relationship and the sponsor's financial commitment.
How to Apply
- Confirm the itinerary: Set your dates and overnight stays, making sure Estonia is the appropriate country to process the application.
- Check the submission route: Consult current instructions from the competent Estonian mission and any authorised application centre serving Türkiye.
- Prepare your documents: Gather the form, passport, insurance, financial evidence and documents relevant to your occupation.
- Attend your appointment: Submit the file, pay the applicable charges and provide biometrics when required.
- Monitor the application: Respond to requests and check the visa details once your passport is returned.
Reservations should represent genuine travel plans. Non-refundable purchases made before a decision can create avoidable financial risk. Dates on your employer's letter, leave approval, application form and accommodation records should agree. Follow the current official checklist for document age, translations and presentation requirements rather than assuming that the same rules apply to every applicant.
Appointments and Biometrics
Appointment availability varies by location and season. Applications can generally be lodged up to six months before departure, so planning ahead is advisable. Waiting for an appointment is separate from processing time. An application centre receives documents and performs administrative tasks; the competent consular authority makes the visa decision.
Fingerprints and a biometric photograph are normally required. Fingerprints recorded for a previous Schengen application within the last 59 months may be reused, although fresh collection can still be requested. Children under twelve are exempt from fingerprint collection. Additional parental consent or custody documents may be needed for minors. A fingerprint exemption does not necessarily remove any requirement to attend in person.
Processing Time
A properly lodged application is normally assessed in approximately 15 calendar days. Cases requiring additional scrutiny may take up to 45 calendar days. Allow separately for appointment availability, public holidays and passport transport or collection. These timeframes are planning guidance, not a commitment that a decision or passport return will occur by a particular date.
Reasons for Refusal
Possible grounds include an unclear travel purpose, insufficient or unverifiable funds, inconsistent bookings and inadequate evidence of an intention to leave the Schengen area. Unsuitable insurance, previous visa violations or false information can also affect the outcome. Submitting every item on a checklist does not automatically establish eligibility.
A refusal notice explains the grounds and the available appeal procedure. Follow that notice for deadlines, the responsible authority and any applicable fee. Before reapplying, address the stated concerns with relevant evidence.

The overall cost includes the current consular visa fee, any application centre charge and optional services selected.
