Who Needs a Denmark Business Visa?

A Denmark business visa is a short-stay Schengen Category C visa for meetings, supplier visits, commercial negotiations, trade fairs and conferences. Turkish citizens applying from Türkiye with ordinary passports generally need this visa before travelling. Holders of special, service or diplomatic passports may qualify for short-stay exemptions, but should check the current rules for their passport and intended activity.

A business visa does not provide a general right to take employment or work in Denmark. Installation projects, technical services, hands-on training and paid assignments may require a different authorisation. The actual tasks matter more than the label attached to the trip. Short stays across the Schengen area are limited to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period.

Application Requirements

Denmark must be your only destination or the main destination of your Schengen trip. For multi-country itineraries, the main destination is assessed using the purpose and duration of the visits. If no main destination can be identified, the country of first entry is responsible. Appointment availability alone is not a valid reason to apply through another country.

Your passport should have been issued within the previous 10 years, remain valid for at least three months after your planned departure from Schengen and contain sufficient blank pages. Travel medical insurance must cover the entire Schengen area and the travel period. The standard minimum cover is EUR 30,000, including emergency medical treatment and medical repatriation.

  • Explain the commercial purpose and identify the Danish host organisation.
  • Show who will pay for transport, accommodation and daily expenses.
  • Provide evidence of your professional situation, financial resources and plans to return to Türkiye.
  • Keep the application form, invitation, employer letter and itinerary consistent.

The invitation should identify the visitor, host contact, purpose and proposed dates. Any commitment to cover expenses should be clearly described. Supporting employment documents vary for employees, company owners and self-employed applicants. Follow the current official checklist for document formats and any translation requirements.

Application Steps

  1. Confirm that your activities qualify as a short business visit and that Denmark is responsible for your application.
  2. Complete Denmark’s current online application procedure and follow the payment and signature instructions.
  3. Book an appointment with the authorised application centre in Türkiye.
  4. Prepare the invitation, professional records, financial evidence, insurance and itinerary.
  5. Submit your documents, provide biometrics if required and monitor application updates.
  6. When your passport is returned, check the visa dates, entries and permitted stay.

The application centre handles collection and administrative services; the competent Danish authorities decide the application. Further documents or an interview may be requested. Avoid assuming that a booking guarantees a visa, and consider the financial risk of non-refundable tickets or accommodation before a decision is issued.

Appointments and Biometrics

Appointment availability depends on location, season and demand. Fingerprints and photographs are handled under Schengen procedures. Fingerprints collected for a previous Schengen application within the last 59 months may sometimes be reused. However, applicants can be asked to provide them again if records cannot be retrieved or fresh verification is necessary. A previous visa does not automatically remove the need to attend.

Bring your passport, application printouts and the documents specified in the current checklist. Check whether originals, copies or translations are required. Keep the submission receipt and tracking reference until the process is complete.

Processing Time

A complete, admissible Schengen application is generally assessed in approximately 15 calendar days, although examination can extend to 45 calendar days where further checks are needed. Appointment waiting times, document transfers and passport delivery may add to the overall timeline. Applications can generally be lodged up to six months before travel; check current processing guidance and allow a reasonable buffer.

Reasons for Refusal

Common concerns include an unclear business purpose, an unverifiable invitation, insufficient funds, conflicting information or doubts about the applicant’s intention to leave Schengen on time. Inadequate insurance, unreliable documents and previous visa breaches can also affect the assessment. Earlier visas do not determine the outcome of a new application.

If refused, read the decision notice for the reasons and available review procedures. Address the underlying issue before considering another application. An issued visa does not automatically guarantee admission: border officers may request evidence of the visit, accommodation and financial means.

The total cost may include the visa fee, the authorised application centre’s service charge and any optional services. Check official application channels for current amounts, payment currency and applicable exemptions, as exchange rates may affect the amount payable in Türkiye. Insurance, translations and courier delivery can add to the cost; visa fees and charges for completed services are generally not refunded following a refusal.
