Slovenia Family or Friend Visit Visa

Son güncelleme:

Who Can Apply for a Slovenia Family or Friend Visit Visa?

Turkish citizens travelling to Slovenia to visit relatives or friends may need a short-stay Schengen visa, normally issued as a type C visa. This category covers temporary visits, not family reunification, long-term residence or paid employment. Applicants should explain whom they intend to visit, where they will stay and how the trip will be funded. The relationship with the host should be clear from the supporting documents.

Ordinary Turkish passport holders generally require a visa. Holders of special, service or diplomatic passports may qualify for short-stay exemptions and should check the current rules for their passport and circumstances. Schengen visits are generally limited to 90 days within any 180-day period. The validity dates, permitted duration of stay and number of entries shown on an issued visa must also be respected.

Application Requirements

Slovenia must be your sole or main destination for the application to fall under Slovenian responsibility. For itineraries covering several Schengen countries, the purpose and length of each stay help determine the main destination. If no main destination can be identified and stays are equal, the country of first entry is normally responsible. Appointment availability alone is not a valid reason to apply through another country.

Your passport should have been issued within the previous ten years, remain valid for at least three months after your intended departure from the Schengen area and contain at least two blank pages. You must demonstrate sufficient resources and credible reasons to return to Türkiye. Employment, studies, family responsibilities and regular income can support this assessment, but no individual document determines the outcome.

The host should provide identification, contact details, their Slovenian address and evidence of lawful residence where applicable. An invitation, guarantee letter or officially certified form may be required, depending on the circumstances and current checklist. Travel medical insurance must cover the entire Schengen area, with at least EUR 30,000 for emergency medical treatment, hospital care and medical repatriation.

Application Steps

  1. Define the visit: Confirm your travel dates, host, accommodation address and any other countries on your itinerary.
  2. Check current instructions: Review the Slovenian diplomatic mission’s guidance and the authorised application channel serving applicants in Türkiye.
  3. Prepare the file: Complete the form and collect consistent invitation, financial, employment or study, accommodation and insurance documents.
  4. Attend your appointment: Submit the documents, complete any required biometric collection and pay the applicable charges.
  5. Follow the application: Respond promptly to additional requests and check the visa details when your passport is returned.

The dates in the application, invitation, insurance and travel arrangements should agree. If you will spend part of the trip in a hotel rather than with your host, document that stay separately. Purchasing non-refundable travel before a decision involves financial risk; consult the official checklist for acceptable reservation evidence.

Appointments and Biometrics

Check where you should apply based on your address in Türkiye and the current submission arrangements. An authorised application centre may collect documents and biometric data, but the competent Slovenian authorities decide the application. Appointment availability varies, so allow time for booking as well as document preparation.

Fingerprints recorded for a previous Schengen application within the last 59 months may sometimes be reused. Nevertheless, fresh fingerprints or personal attendance can still be requested. Children under 12 are exempt from fingerprint collection, but rules concerning submission, legal representation and parental consent still apply. A compliant photograph is also required.

Processing Time

Standard assessment generally takes approximately 15 calendar days once an admissible application has been lodged. Where further checks or documents are needed, processing may extend to around 45 days. Appointment waiting times, passport transfers and return delivery can add to the overall timeline, especially during busy periods.

Under general Schengen rules, applications can be lodged up to six months before travel and should normally be submitted at least 15 calendar days before departure. These rules do not ensure a decision before a particular date. Verify current processing guidance and leave a practical buffer.

Common Reasons for Refusal

  • An unclear purpose of travel or insufficient evidence of the relationship with the host.
  • Inadequate financial resources or unexplained account activity.
  • Contradictory, incomplete or unverifiable supporting information.
  • Insufficient evidence of an intention to return to Türkiye.
  • Unsuitable insurance, previous overstays or legal restrictions on entry.

A refusal notice explains the grounds and applicable appeal arrangements. Follow its instructions regarding deadlines and the competent authority. Before reapplying, address the identified weaknesses rather than assuming an unchanged file will receive a different decision.
