Citizens of the Republic of Turkey are required to obtain a visa to travel to Armenia. E-visa or visa on arrival options are available.
Armenia Visa Procedures 2026: Current Information
Citizens of the Republic of Turkey holding an Ordinary (Maroon) Passport are required to obtain a visa to travel to Armenia. Holders of Diplomatic, Service, and Special passports are also subject to visa requirements. Due to the absence of direct diplomatic representation between the two countries, the visa application processes differ from other countries. The most common and practical methods for applicants are the electronic visa (e-visa) and visa on arrival.
How to Get an Armenia Visa?
There is no embassy or consulate in Turkey where one can apply for an Armenian visa. Therefore, application processes are conducted entirely through online systems or at border crossings upon entry into Armenia. Both methods are explained in detail below.
1. Armenia E-Visa Online Application
The e-visa is the most practical type of visa, obtained by applying online before travel. The process consists of the following steps:
- Accessing the Official E-Visa Portal: Go to the official e-visa application portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia (evisa.mfa.am).
- Filling Out the Application Form: Enter personal information, passport details, travel dates, and accommodation information completely and accurately.
- Uploading Required Documents: Upload scanned copies of your passport's information page and a biometric photograph.
- Making the Payment: The visa fee is paid online using a credit or debit card.
- Confirmation and Receiving the Document: The application is typically processed within 2-3 business days. Once approved, the e-visa document is sent to the applicant's email address. A printout of this document must be kept with the passport during travel.
2. Armenia Visa on Arrival
Another option for Turkish citizens is to obtain a visa upon arrival in Armenia. This service is available at specific border crossings:
- Zvartnots International Airport (Yerevan)
- Shirak International Airport (Gyumri)
- For land crossings: Ayrum railway station, and the Bavra, Bagratashen, and Meghri land border points.
It is recommended that individuals obtaining a visa on arrival carry their passports, documents showing accommodation and flight details, and the visa fee in cash (preferably USD). It should be noted that there may be waiting times at the border depending on congestion.
Basic Documents Required for an Armenia Visa
Whether for an e-visa or a visa on arrival, certain basic documents are needed. These documents may vary depending on the purpose of travel.
- Passport: A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the planned date of departure from Armenia.
- Biometric Photo: A recent 3.5x4.5 cm photograph with a white background (digital format for e-visa).
- Travel Documents: Round-trip flight ticket reservation.
- Accommodation Documents: Hotel reservation or an invitation letter from a resident in Armenia.
Additional Documents for Armenia Business Visa
For business travel, the following documents may be required in addition to the ones listed above:
- Invitation Letter: An official invitation from a company operating in Armenia, stating the purpose and dates of travel.
- Company Letter: A letter on company letterhead confirming the applicant's employment, position, and that travel expenses will be covered by the company.
- Fair or Event Registration: Registration documents for any trade fair or business event to be attended.
2026 Armenia Visa Fees and Validity Periods
Visa fees and types vary depending on the application method and the requested duration of stay. The estimated fees and durations as of 2026 are as follows. It is important to check the official e-visa portal for current rates.
- Single-Entry 21-Day Visa: The most common type for tourism.
- Single-Entry 120-Day Visa: Preferred for longer stays.
Fees are paid during the online application or when obtaining a visa at the border. Payments are usually requested in US Dollars (USD) or Armenian Dram (AMD).
