I have had a Schengen visa before, do I need to give fingerprints again?

If you have provided fingerprints (VIS registration) for any Schengen country within the last 59 months (about 5 years), you may not need to provide them again. However, you might still need to go to the application center in person in case of a system issue or if your record cannot be found.
