Who Needs a French Business Visa?
A French business visa is generally a short-stay Schengen type C visa for meetings, trade fairs, supplier visits, commercial negotiations and similar professional trips. For Turkish citizens applying from Türkiye, the application should explain the business purpose, the applicant's professional background and how the visit will be funded. This visa does not, by itself, authorize employment or work in France.
Ordinary Turkish passport holders generally need a visa. Holders of special, service or diplomatic passports may benefit from short-stay exemptions, but should check the current rules for their passport and intended activity. Short stays across the Schengen area are normally limited to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period.
Application Requirements
France should be the sole or main destination. For a trip covering several Schengen countries, responsibility depends on the purpose and duration of the visits. If no main destination can be identified, the country of first entry is normally responsible. Applicants in Türkiye should also check which application centre and consular jurisdiction cover their residence.
The invitation should identify the French host, explain the commercial relationship, provide the proposed dates and clarify who will pay. It supports the application but does not replace evidence of financial means or reasons to return to Türkiye.
- The passport must have been issued within the previous ten years, contain at least two blank pages and remain valid for at least three months after the planned Schengen departure.
- Travel medical insurance must cover the full trip throughout the Schengen area, with at least EUR 30,000 in coverage.
- Accommodation, transport and funding arrangements should match the itinerary.
- Employment, business and financial records should reflect the applicant's current circumstances.
Application Steps
Start by checking whether the planned activity qualifies as a short business visit. Installation work, technical services, paid assignments or longer placements may require different permissions. Complete the appropriate application on France-Visas and review the supporting-document list generated for your circumstances.
- Confirm the itinerary, business purpose and host organization.
- Complete the form using accurate passport and professional details.
- Prepare the invitation, financial evidence, insurance and travel documents.
- Book an appointment with the centre serving your place of residence.
- Submit the application, provide biometrics where required and pay the applicable charges.
- Track the application and respond to any request for further evidence.
Employees typically document their position through employer letters and employment records. Business owners should demonstrate that their company is active, while self-employed applicants should provide relevant professional registrations and commercial evidence. Check the official checklist for document age, translations and presentation requirements. Non-refundable bookings made before a decision carry a financial risk.
Appointments and Biometrics
Authorized application centres in Türkiye may collect applications on France's behalf, but French consular authorities make the decision. Appointment availability varies by location and season. Applications can generally be lodged up to six months before travel, allowing time for both an appointment and subsequent processing.
Fingerprints recorded for a Schengen application within the previous 59 months may be reusable. Nevertheless, fresh fingerprints or personal attendance can still be requested. An exemption from fingerprint collection does not automatically remove attendance requirements. Bring the passport, application paperwork and supporting documents specified in the appointment instructions.
Processing Time
The standard decision period for an admissible short-stay application is approximately 15 calendar days. Detailed checks or requests for additional information can extend this to as much as 45 calendar days in individual cases. Appointment queues, document preparation and passport return should be allowed for separately.
The visa's validity period, authorized length of stay and number of entries are separate conditions. A history of compliant travel or recurring business needs may support a multiple-entry request, but does not determine the outcome. Check the visa sticker carefully when the passport is returned.
Common Reasons for Refusal
Potential grounds include an unclear business purpose, inconsistent bookings, unverifiable host details, insufficient funds or doubts about departure before the authorized stay ends. Inadequate insurance, unreliable documents and previous visa violations can also affect the decision. Financial assessment concerns the source and consistency of funds, not simply the closing balance.
A refusal notice explains the grounds and provides information on available appeal procedures and deadlines. Before applying again, address the stated concerns with updated, verifiable evidence rather than resubmitting an unchanged file.

Ücret Bilgisi
The overall cost includes the current consular visa fee and the authorized application centre's service charge, with optional services charged separately. Confirm the payable amounts through official channels before applying, as the Turkish lira equivalent and payment arrangements may change. Insurance, translations and advisory support may involve additional costs; a refusal generally does not entitle the applicant to a refund of the visa fee or charges for services already provided.
