Is an Indonesia Visa Required? 2026 Current Status
Citizens of the Republic of Turkey holding Ordinary (Maroon) Passports are exempt from visas for tourist trips to Indonesia for up to 30 days. This exemption only covers touristic travel and does not grant the right to work or stay for a longer period in Indonesia. This visa-free entry cannot be extended. Individuals who plan to stay longer than 30 days or travel for non-touristic purposes (e.g., business meetings, social visits) must obtain a visa appropriate for their travel purpose.
Types of Indonesia Visas and Application Methods
Indonesia offers different visa categories based on the purpose and duration of travel. Applications can be made through Indonesia's online visa portal (e-Visa) or, in certain cases, upon arrival (Visa on Arrival - VoA).
Tourist Visa: Visa-Free Entry and Visa on Arrival (VoA)
Visa-Free Entry: This is applicable for Turkish citizens for touristic stays of up to 30 days. An entry stamp is issued at passport control upon arrival. This period cannot be exceeded or converted to another visa type.
Visa on Arrival (VoA): This is a visa type that citizens of specific countries can obtain for a fee at designated Indonesian airports. The VoA is valid for 30 days and can be extended once for another 30 days. This option is ideal for tourists planning to stay longer than 30 days but not exceeding 60 days. The VoA application can also be made online (e-VOA) before travel.
e-Visa Application for Long-Term Visits
For touristic, social, or business visits longer than 60 days, Indonesia accepts applications through its online e-Visa system. The most common type of e-Visa is the B211A. This visa is initially granted for 60 days and can be extended twice while in Indonesia, allowing for a total stay of up to 180 days. The entire application process, including uploading digital documents and making the payment, is conducted through the official website of the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration.
Indonesia Business Visa and Required Documents
Individuals who will engage in commercial activities such as attending business meetings, seminars, or fairs in Indonesia must obtain a business visa. This visa does not grant the right to work or engage in paid employment in the country. The essential documents required for a business e-Visa application are:
- Passport with at least 6 months of validity
- A recent biometric photograph
- An invitation letter on letterhead from the company in Indonesia
- A letter from the applicant's employer in their home country stating the purpose of travel and that all expenses will be covered
- Flight and accommodation reservations
- Bank statements showing sufficient financial means
Bali Visa Rules: What to Know
As Bali is an island belonging to Indonesia, it does not have a separate visa policy; the nationwide visa rules also apply to Bali. Therefore, Turkish citizens traveling to Bali for tourism are exempt from a visa for up to 30 days. Those planning a longer stay should consider the Visa on Arrival (VoA) or e-Visa options. Additionally, as of 2024, all foreign tourists entering Bali are required to pay a one-time tourism tax (Bali Tourist Levy). This payment can be made online before arrival or at the airport in Bali.
