Who Is a Czech Business Visa For?
A Czech business visa is intended for short visits involving business meetings, supplier discussions, trade fairs, contract negotiations and similar commercial activities. For Turkish citizens applying from Türkiye, these trips generally fall under the category C Schengen visa framework. Company owners, employees and self-employed professionals should document the purpose of their visit and their relationship with the organisation they will meet.
This visa does not authorise employment in Czechia. Installation, technical services or on-site assignments may require additional permission, depending on the actual work involved. The general short-stay limit is 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen area, although the visa issued may permit fewer days or restrict the number of entries.
Application Requirements
Turkish ordinary passport holders generally need a visa for short business visits. Travellers holding other Turkish passport types should check the applicable exemption conditions before making arrangements. Czechia must be the competent destination for the application. For multi-country itineraries, the main destination is determined by the purpose or length of stay; the country of first entry is not automatically responsible.
Your passport should normally have been issued within the previous ten years, remain valid for at least three months after your intended departure from the Schengen area and contain sufficient blank pages. Applicants should provide evidence of accommodation, transport plans, funding and circumstances supporting their return to Türkiye. Dates and explanations should be consistent throughout the application.
Travel medical insurance must cover the entire Schengen area for the intended stay, including emergency treatment, hospital care and medical repatriation. The general minimum coverage is EUR 30,000. The invitation should identify both parties, describe the planned activities and dates, and explain who will cover the costs. Check the current checklist to establish whether an officially verified invitation is required.
Application Steps
- Define the visit: Confirm the meetings, dates and any travel to other Schengen countries. Check whether the planned activities qualify as a short business visit.
- Confirm where to apply: Verify the consular jurisdiction and authorised application channel for your residential address in Türkiye.
- Prepare the documents: Complete the form and collect the invitation, employment or company records, financial evidence and travel arrangements required by the current checklist.
- Attend the appointment: Submit the requested documents, pay applicable charges and provide biometric data if required. Further documents may be requested later.
- Check the outcome: Track the application through the designated channel. When the passport is returned, check the visa dates, permitted stay and number of entries.
Translation requirements and rules on originals or copies vary by document and application location. The employer’s assignment letter and the Czech host’s invitation should describe the same business purpose. Consider processing uncertainty before purchasing non-refundable flights or accommodation. A reservation or invitation alone does not establish eligibility for a visa.
Appointments and Biometrics
Appointment availability varies with demand. An application centre receives documents and handles administrative tasks; the competent consular authority decides the application. Identity checks, document checks, a photograph and fingerprint collection may form part of the appointment. Confirm the attendance requirements in advance rather than assuming that someone else can submit the file on your behalf.
Fingerprints recorded for a previous Schengen application can generally be reused within 59 months. However, applicants may be asked to provide them again if records cannot be retrieved or their quality is insufficient. Holding a previous visa does not automatically remove the requirement to attend. Age-related exemptions and other exceptions follow the applicable biometric rules.
Processing Time
An admissible application is normally examined in approximately 15 calendar days. Where additional scrutiny is needed, processing can extend to 45 days. Waiting for an appointment and receiving the passport may add further time. Public holidays, seasonal demand and requests for supporting information can affect the overall schedule.
Applications can generally be lodged up to six months before travel and should normally be submitted at least 15 days before departure. This minimum interval is not an assurance that a decision will arrive before the trip. Check current local arrangements and allow additional time when planning an important meeting.
Common Reasons for Refusal
Possible grounds include an unclear commercial purpose, insufficient financial evidence, inconsistent documents or an inadequately explained relationship with the host. Unsuitable insurance, doubts about departure before the authorised stay ends and previous visa breaches may also affect the decision. Providing every item on a checklist does not by itself establish that all visa conditions are met.
If refused, review the written reasons carefully. Any review procedure must follow the instructions and deadlines in the decision notice. A fresh application should address the earlier concerns with relevant evidence rather than simply resubmitting an unchanged file.
